Business Owners & Community,
I’ll be honest, I was mad. There were so many plans I had for March and April. Endless ways I could be in the community and connect with business owners. And my plans came to a screeching halt. There’s a quote that I have displayed at my home office from Jim Rohn that says, “Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were better.”
This sentence has served me over the course of my career. Hard times have happened before, hard times will happen again. But the beauty is that I have the choice to decide whether I want to be a victim or a victor of my circumstances. So instead of grieving over the loss of my previous plans… it’s time to reinvent the wheel.
Whether you are stuck at home or working tirelessly in an essential service, COVID-19 can serve as an opportunity to learn how we can be better. Not as a criticism to the way things have been done in the past, but as a nod to our ever changing landscape.
Our mission at the Chamber has been and will continue to be a service that “promotes and fosters a healthy community through business advocacy and sustainability”. There is no room for an organization that chooses to remain static; instead we must brace ourselves for an ever-changing environment.
So with that I want to say that the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce is here to support our county and our businesses as much as we possibly can. We’re not sitting back and waiting to see what happens, we’re in the trenches. We recognize that we have to keep up with changing times and changing needs of our community. As we continue to live in times of ambiguity, we will stay anchored and committed to our mission.
Thank you for being a supporter of the Chamber. Stay hopeful, stay diligent, stay healthy, and stay strong Calaveras… Calaveras Strong!
